Why it matters

The search returns to its source

For seven years, Peace of Life has pursued a single question — who caused the Big Bang, and what are we here for — where the Buddha’s awakening and modern physics meet. On 1 November 2026, that inquiry returns to where it was first answered. ZEN Master Ken will give a formal Dharma talk at the Mahabodhi Temple — the very place where, some twenty-five centuries ago, the Buddha awakened beneath the Bodhi tree.

It is the first formal address of its kind by a Japanese teacher at the temple. In The Gateway to ZEN, the awakening under the Bodhi tree is where the Buddha’s answer begins — and it is to that same ground that the teaching now returns.

The place

Mahabodhi Temple, Bodh Gaya

The Mahabodhi Temple stands in Bodh Gaya, in the Indian state of Bihar, on the site traditionally held to be where the Buddha attained enlightenment. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most revered destinations in the Buddhist world, drawing pilgrims and visitors from every continent.
